Thursday Afternoon at the Movies





Join us this summer for family movie time, every Thursday afternoon at 2:00 in the Large Meeting Room.

The Friends of the Missoula Public Library and the Library Foundation teamed up to buy a brand-new state-of-the-art projection system for the library! See these fun films on the library's new big screen.

Refreshments will be served! After all, what's a movie without popcorn?

June 16--Shrek
Rated PG ; 89 minutes

Beautiful princesses, handsome princes, witches, ogres, and fire-breathing dragons turn up in almost every fairy tale. They're all in this computer-animated adventure, but their roles, and the surprising plot twists, are anything but expected in this fun adaptation of the children's book by William Steig.

This ain’t your average fairy tale… again! Shrek and Fiona are back from their honeymoon and it is time to meet her parents. The only problem is that they don’t know she’s an ogre. They have to contend with hysterical parents, a VERY disappointed Prince Charming and a determined ogre-slayer named Puss-in-Boots.

June 30--Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events
Rated PG; 108 minutes

Based on the popular children's books this film is the story of the Baudelaire children who lose both of their parents in a fire. The children are sent from relative to relative but the worst is the dastardly Count Olaf who know that the children are to receive a huge inheritance when the oldest girl is of age and wants the money for himself. The intelligent children figure out his intentions in this devilishly fun adventure.

July 21--Finding Nemo
Rated G; Rated PG; 94 minutes

The wizards at Pixar take us under the sea to the world of clownfish Marlin and his son Nemo. When the defiant Nemo takes off from his dad and gets captured by a tropical fish seeker he finds himself stuck in a fishbowl in a dentist’s office. Marlin and his well meaning, but wacky, friend Dory embark on an epic journey to find his son.

July 28--Neverending Story
Rated PG; 94 minutes

A wonderful motion picture for the entire family that takes viewers on a magical voyage to a mythical empire populated by enchanted beings. Directed by acclaimed German filmmaker Wolfgang Petersen, The NeverEnding Story combines adventure, suspense, delight, and surprise as it tells the odyssey of a ten-year-old boy who is drawn by a book into a fantasy wonderland which he alone can save from total destruction.
